Orff to the Circus is a marvelous production with the potential to involve the entire pre-school, elementary and middle school grades in the Orff experience, the joy of creating music. A musical play for unison voices and Orff instruments, the eight songs may be used as a program or just in the classroom as a Ringmaster introduces the various circus acts.
I'm in the Mode for Dancin' Dinosaurs was created for kindergarten through sixth grade students as they travel back in time to centuries long past when the archaic sound of the modes dominated music. It contains songs about dinosaurs written in the Ionic, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian and pentatonic scales. Question/Answer experiences in these modes make it easy to improvise and compose. So, climb into your time machine and “saur” back to a time when dinosaurs ruled.
The Colorful Kingdom is a musical fable based upon an ancient Persian folktale which celebrates cultural diversity. For grades K-6, it can be performed with recorded world music in the classroom or it can be a full school production with actors, Orff instruments, recorders and school choir.
The Unicorn, a narrated musical fantasy of poetry, and Renaissance song and dance, is based upon the Unicorn Tapestries found at the Cloisters, the medieval museum of The New York Metropolitan Museum of Art. It is written for upper elementary and middle school students. The arrangements are for 2 part treble voices, Orff instruments and recorders.
Movin' Through the Seasons is a collection of original songs and traditional folk songs for children's voices, Orff instruments, recorders and strings. Piano arrangements are also included. The teaching process is outlined for each selection and grade levels are suggested. Movement, dance and improvisation are threaded throughout the school year to celebrate the singing seasons.
