One of my fourth grade students once said,
“Everyone is a musician, but some people can’t remain one for their entire life.”
My books of music for children were written to inspire lifelong learning and joy in the arts.

The first book, Orff to the Circus, was created for my students ages 2-13 in a Montessori School. My principal wanted a program which involved the entire student body and I could not find music which included that age span. The result was a three ring circus of songs and dances in which the preschool children portrayed the animals, elementary students sang in the chorus and middle school students played Orff instruments.
The second book, I’m in the Mode for Dancin’ Dinosaurs, was written at the height of dinosaur popularity, (think Jurassic Park) and features a dream sequence in which a baby dinosaur trapped in a block of ice comes to life. The story includes songs such as Aeolian Air, Lydian Surprise, Dorian Dinosaur, Mixolydian Smash, which introduce students to the magic of the modes.
The Colorful Kingdom, a musical fable which celebrates diversity, can provide many cross curricular experiences. The students can study folktales from many lands, finding similarities and differences in world cultures. The message of celebrating and embracing our diversities, joyfully and with respect remains vital in community building today.
The Unicorn offers the opportunity for arts integration. Original music and Renaissance songs and dances depict the hunt for the unicorn, his capture, death and resurrection as reflected in The Unicorn Tapestries of the Cloisters, the medieval branch of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. Created by master artisans c.1500. The myth and magic of the unicorn can be found in cultures throughout the world and lives vividly in our imagination to this day. This book is dedicated to all those who can still hear the hoof beats in the forest, see the flash of white by the mountain stream, and recognize the beauty and mystery that comes from beyond our own world.
Movin’ Through the Seasons will take you on a musical journey with original songs and traditional folk song and dance arrangements for each month of the school year. It welcomes students back to school in the fall and concludes with a graduation song which partners with Pachelbel’s Canon. It includes the inspirational three part choral arrangement of Linda’s I Have a Song to Sing.
